    Homeless Kindness

    While winter months prove to be difficult at times for those of us lucky enough to be able to access health services, it has been a particularly challenging time for the homeless community.⁠ This is why our Managing Partner, Mark Skimming, decided to step in and help out.

    After reading about the outstanding work of Laura McSorley, who started the Glasgow-based Kindness Homeless Street Team in 2019, Mark spoke to our team members and we decided straight away that we wanted to offer some help.

    It is heartbreaking that so many people are going without essential health care. Oral hygiene is such an important part of our overall well-being.

    We really want to be respectful to everyone involved in this collaboration and Laura has taken the lead in terms of giving us⁠ background information and explaining how best we can use our own skills and resources.⁠ Above oral and dental care, of course, we know that how our smiles appear is also a huge part of our confidence and self-esteem.

    We sincerely hope that by stepping in and providing dental services for the Kindness Homeless Street Team we can really make a difference.

      I had suffered from toothache for a few weeks and previous dentist could not find anything wrong after several appointments. I am a terrified of dental procedures due to past traumatic experiences hence why I phoned Links Dental Practice as they specialise in pain-free dentistry and helping scared anxious/scared patients. I secured a ‘tooth crisis audit’ appointment within 24hrs. The receptionist who answered the phone could not have been more supportive and empathetic. Within a few minutes of my assessment the problem was found and then repaired. Dr Jennie Farss was an exemplar of compassion, understanding, gentleness and clinical expertise.       Highly recommend!I called the practice because I had a really bad toothache, and they kindly gave me an appointment on the same day, which I really appreciated.I thought they would just check the tooth, tell me what the problem was, and give me some pain relief. But Dr Sam and April made sure I did not leave in pain. They spent much more time with me than planned and completed the full treatment on the same day.       I cannot recommend this practice enough! From the friendly reception team to the excellent dentists, everyone at Links makes the comfort of your visit a priority. I was a patient of Jasmine’s at her previous practice and when she moved I did to - which is a huge testament to the way she makes every visit as calm and as pain free as possible. As a nervous patient Jasmine’s friendly and calm nature makes each visit a positive. During childhood I had many fillings and some negative experiences at the dentist but with each visit to Links I feel less and less anxious.       I’ve had an excellent experience with Dr Jasmine and Links Dental Practice.Having recently moved to Edinburgh I hadn’t yet organised a dentist when I suffered a broken tooth. A friend recommended Links dental practice and they were able to see me very quickly.Dr Jasmine and Bethany were able to patch things up immediately, allowing me to enjoy Christmas. Dr Jasmine explained the treatment options and talked me through a treatment plan. This was reassuring for me as someone who suffers from dental anxiety.
